A Web Resource for Teachers

What is Webguides for teachers?
Webguides for Teachers is a resource web site especially for teachers. It offers a series of annotated guides to the best resources for teaching at primary, secondary and training college levels, as well as to sites for teaching and learning about Internet skills and how to integrate technology into the curriculum. The TESL/TEFL and Study Skills and Research pages are the biggest and most accessed, followed by the Young Learners page, but we hope you too will find the other more specialised pagess useful too.

Who is if for?
The online guides are a suitable web resource for teachers, teacher-trainers, trainee teachers, librarians, students and, in many cases, parents too.

How should I start?
Explore the pages under The Internet first to upgrade your web and teaching skills and get ideas for exploiting the Internet to the full. The Subject and Special Interest pages give a good start in particular fields. They are intended to spare busy teachers--as well as students/trainees--some of the frustration inherent in searching for useful sites amidst so many that prove useless.

Choosing the best
The sites which made our lists score well on the recommended checklists for Web Evaluation. Do have a look at some of the Web Evaluation sites and choose--or get your students to choose-- one or two of the checklists to use with the material you and they encounter.

Revision time!
The entire site has again been reviewed and revised and links are regularly checked.  Thanks to all the teachers and trainers who have made suggestions!

Where does Webguides come from?
Originally prepared to support courses at schools and colleges in Malaysia, Webguides for Teachers has become an education resource for teachers and learners anywhere English is taught. It is now run under the auspices of Malaysia's international English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC). The webmaster is Jean Floyd, recently retired as Resource Consultant for ELTC.  Jean  has 50 years of experience as a teacher, ELT/ESP lecturer, administrator and librarian  in Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Jamaica, the UK and Malaysia, working with schools, colleges, universities, library services, the Centre for British Teachers and the British Council.
